
In order to see Texas grow rapidly in the field of nanotechnology, the state of Texas has committed $21.5 million for this purpose. This would help in creating a research center based at the University of Texas at Austin. Called as the Southwest Academy of Nanotechnology, the center would be seeking to create next generation of computer chips.
The contribution of the state was announced at the NanoTX ‘06 convention which promotes the business side of nanotechnology in Texas. This contribution coincides the period when business men and scientists are saying that it is necessary for the state an local government to hasten their R&D in the field of nanotechnology if they wanted to emerge as a player in the growing field.
The contribution from the state would serve the dual purpose of positioning Texas both in the field of nanotechnology and semiconductor.
