You would be amazed to know that as of now there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease with U.S alone accounting for 4.5 million patients. This is a genetic disease and the number of people affected by it is expected to grow over the years. Researchers have been working to find a cure for this disease for quite some time. Gene therapy is being deployed for finding out a cure for this disease. One of the problems encountered in gene therapy treatment is that human beings have developed an effective immune system which protects it from viral infections but due to the developments in nanotechnological fabrication techniques it has become possible to develop nonviral nanocarriers for gene delivery. It has not only led to increased safety but also eased manufacturing and scaling up and has also accommodated larger DNA molecules when compared with virus based delivery tools.
