Chemist at Clemson University, Ya-Ping Sun has come up with method for countering anthrax. If anthrax has to be misused for causing destruction then it should be grounded into a fine powder so that it can easily enter the lungs through inhalation.
The chemist and his team have come up with an agent which sticks to the anthrax spores preventing them from reaching the lungs. These findings have been published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Carbon nanotubes were used as a platform for showing sugar molecules which would attract anthrax spores. When the carbon nanotubes are coated with sugar they bind with anthrax spores which creates cluster that become too big to be inhaled and hence prevents damage.
